About Michelle

Hi, I’m Michelle.

Newly licensed. Never new to this work.

For almost 20 years, I have been helping children, teens, adults, and families find their way through hard seasons. Now I bring all of it into my own practice.

My story

Healing happens in connection.

“My goal is a calm, judgment-free space where you feel understood.”

Glowing lighthouse radiating light at dusk

For almost 20 years, I have been helping children, teens, adults, and families through foster care and adoption, recovery, crisis, and the quieter seasons of simply trying to hold it all together.

I became a licensed marriage and family therapist in June 2026, but this work is not new to me. Long before that, I worked as a counselor, case manager, social worker, educator, and program leader. Even as a manager and director, I never stepped away from the people or the work: I kept providing direct services, carried a caseload, and answered crisis calls. I have sat with people in some of the hardest moments of their lives, and I have watched what becomes possible when someone finally feels safe.

My approach is trauma-informed and relational, grounded in attachment and Trust-Based Relational Intervention®. I pay attention to the whole person: your history, your nervous system, your relationships, and your strengths. I use playful and creative tools when they help, especially with kids and teens, and I am always honest with you about what I am noticing.

Our first session is part gathering, part getting to know you. I will ask about your story, share what I am hearing, and we will decide together where to begin. I bring warmth, a little humor, and deep respect for your culture, your identity, and your faith if you want it to be part of the conversation.

I am a Christian, and faith in Christ Jesus is the foundation of spirituality in my life. I am glad to explore and invite faith into our sessions as much, as little, or not at all — based on your desires and belief system. Respect is at the core of my approach, no matter your beliefs or values.

    Common questions

    Questions clients ask

I see children, teens, adults, and families. I have a special place for foster, adoptive, and kinship families, and I work with clients of all ages by secure telehealth anywhere in California.

Our first session is part gathering, part getting to know you. I will ask about your story, share what I am hearing, and we will decide together where to begin. Nothing is rushed, and you are always in charge of what we explore.

Yes. All sessions happen by secure, HIPAA-compliant video, so you can join from anywhere private in California where you feel comfortable — a calm corner of your home, a quiet car, or your own chair.

It means I assume behavior makes sense in context, and that safety comes first. I pay attention to your history, your nervous system, your relationships, and your strengths. You set the pace, and nothing is forced.

Mostly, yes. What you share stays between us. The exceptions are if someone is hurting you, if you might hurt yourself or someone else, or if a court orders it. We go over exactly what stays private in our first session, so there are no surprises.

I am a Christian, and faith in Christ Jesus is the foundation of spirituality in my life. I am glad to explore and invite faith into our sessions as much, as little, or not at all — based on your desires and belief system. Respect is at the core of my approach, no matter your beliefs or values.

That is okay, and it happens. Finding the right fit matters. If I am not the right fit for your needs, I will do my best to suggest other resources. A free 15-minute consultation is the easiest way to find out before you commit.

Yes. I accept Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Cigna. Private pay is also welcome. We go over fees, payment, and cancellation policies in writing before therapy begins.
