The short version
- This website shares information. It is not therapy, and it is not for emergencies.
- Therapy begins only after intake and your signed informed consent.
- Telehealth sessions are for people located in California at the time of the session.
- The free tools on this site are for general education and self-care, not treatment.
Agreement to these terms
This website is operated by Michelle Moses, LMFT (“I,” “me”). By using it, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to the Privacy Practices. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
Not therapy, and not emergency care
The information on this website is for general education. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or a substitute for care from a qualified professional who knows your situation.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not use this website, email, or text messages for emergencies.
Starting therapy
Visiting this website, sending a message, or having a free consultation does not create a therapist-client relationship. That relationship begins only after we complete intake together, you sign the informed consent and practice policies, and we agree to work together.
The free 15-minute consultation is a chance to ask questions and see whether we are a good fit. It is not a therapy session. If I am not the right fit for your needs, I will do my best to suggest other resources.
Telehealth and location
I am licensed in California. For telehealth sessions, you must be physically located in California at the time of each session. Sessions take place on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, and you agree to join from a private space where you can talk freely.
Fees, insurance and Good Faith Estimates
Session fees, accepted insurance, payment, and cancellation policies are explained in writing before therapy begins and are part of the informed consent you sign.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate. Under the federal No Surprises Act, if you are not using insurance, or are not using insurance for a service, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of care. You can ask for one before you schedule. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Learn more at cms.gov/nosurprises.
Free tools and resources
The feelings wheel, free guide, self-worth cards, and other resources on this site are general self-care and educational tools. They are not a diagnosis or treatment plan, and they do not replace therapy. Use them at your own discretion.
Communication
Regular email and text messages are not fully secure. By contacting me that way, you accept that risk. I respond to messages as soon as I reasonably can during business hours. Clinical information should only be sent through the client portal, HIPAA-compliant email, or secure fax.
If you agree to receive text messages, you can reply STOP at any time to opt out. See the Privacy Practices for details.
